Profile Information

About Me:
I am Jennifer. I am a mommy to Fiona who was born in '03 and my 2 fuzzy boxers Sienna & Scarlett(notice they are both color names). I am a high school art teacher and have been doing that since 1999. I a taught elementary art the 4 years before that. I love plants. I love flowers and I love dirt. I am in my gardens if I am not in my studio!
Where I'm from:
Columbus, OH (originally-Philadelphia, PA)
About my Art:
I am an artist. I just runs through my veins. Without it I am unsure what I would be doing with my life. I live it every day. I love to experiment with Mixed Media and altered art. I push the limits in my art making and most of all every piece communicates something. I love to make people think with my art or at least get a reaction...."WoW!" is sufficient! I use any media that communicates the specific idea I am going for. I take photos, do graphic design on the computer, paint, draw, sew, stamp, collage, anything and everything...even better if they are combined in some really interesting way!
Where am I going?
to my studio to get some art done....

Hey Jennifer, is it you whose pages I stumbled upon today in 1000 artist journal pages? If so - great work!

hey!! I am good-I forgot all about this page:( until I saw your comment in my email!! I haven't done much in my art journal or altered books, but I will soon-just seems I get obsessed with every new thing I try (right now it's mostly watercolor pencils, and now my new oil pastels-plus doing allot of drawing practice)
good to hear from you-how are you doing? I am loving your slideshow -makes me want to start altering a book now-how did you make the jewelry? love them!!

She actually lives in the 'burbs, too, in Upper Arlington. She's very creative, but not a working artist. She teaches tai chi and is a mom of 2. Keep me posted if you do show in the area! I'll let you know if I visit her (no plans in near future), and maybe we can meet for coffee/tea and do an in person book art show and tell :-)

Thank you Jennifer,
I really love your work - rich, textured, and truly inspiring!! your books are beautiful. Are you showing your work anywhere in Columbus? My sister lives there, and I know she would love it, too!

Thanks for your interest - you can find an own album for book pages on my Flickr site, or you can see them on my blog by using the tag called "Journals and Altered Books". I think I´ll load up all upcoming pages to this site.

Jennifer, I wonder if you can help me!! I went to work some more on my book, but when i opened it all the pages stuck together and everything tore off:( I am so disappointed!~but not going to dwell on it. before I start over with another book, what did I do wrong? I used scrap paper, magazine cutouts, some stickers and rubons...acrylic craft paints (and I let the book dry for couple days b4 closing it) but I did seal it all with mod podge -is that the problem? i like the glossy look it gave to it, is there something different to use? well, I appreciate any help you can give so much!!! thanks:) have a great day
